Pair of Zoned Calcite Mineral Specimen Small

  • $5.00

Two Lovely Calcite Mineral Specimens

This is a great pair of specimens both showing growth zonation (bands of different colors). One has an unusual green tinge. The other shows good rombohedral cleavage, and some characteristic weathering. You get both of the specimens pictured. 1.2 oz.

Calcite is a carbonate mineral with the formula CaCO3, calcium carbonate. Calcite is a common mineral in sedimentary and metamorphic environments, and can form as a primary igneous mineral as well. It is extremely stable over wide temperature extremes, alters its crystal structure to form aragonite at very high pressures, and is sensitive to acids.

This would be a great gift for the budding geologist or scientist.

You will receive one like the specimens pictured.
